This was the invitation cover for my son's 1st birthday in July. The monster itself is inspired by a cool toy from the 80's. Can't remember the correct name though, but I remember the commericals.

I think the toy you're thinking of is called "My Pet Monster", which was like the (much cooler)predecessor of Tickle-Me-Elmo. But still awesome job!
